I can fondly recall meeting Freddie when he was in Melbourne to play a concert at PBSFM studios on January 29th 1982.
The band was Freddie on Trumpet, Bill Rockwell-Sax, Victor Lewis-Drums, Art Resnik-Piano, Rufus Reid-Bass.
The station had been broadcasting since 1979 and was in it’s infancy.
I also intervviewed him and put a two part special to air on the 4th of February that year.
Freddie was an awesome player and quite a character to be with, and was alot of fun.
That day I spent with him will always be remembered.
He will be missed.
